Some time ago on one of my visits to Vinales we came upon this place through our taxi driver. At the time it wasn't frequented by many people but with the increase in tourism throughout Cuba, especially in the Vinales area, it seems to have become a bit more popular. This would be a good place for Americans to visit, as it falls under their 'people to people' obligation set forth by their government for traveling to the island.
This is an agro-ecological farm that's just a few minutes outside the town of Viñales (1 1/2 km.). The 8.9 hectare farm was once fallow ground left unattended. Wilfredo, the owner, started working here in 2005 operating it strictly as a crop site. With the help of his daughters they opened the restaurant portion in 2008. Everything here is natural and organic, our juices were prepared from scratch when ordered. The fertilizer used on the plants grown here is organic, they apply various agro-ecological techniques. The charcoal they use for their grill is natural and without any chemicals and I wish we would have eaten here....next time. If you're going to spend some time in Vinales I suggest you drop in and look around. It's definitely worth getting the different view of the Valley, I took some great pics here.
