Several people told me about this place and gave it a glowing review by saying it's one of the best restaurants they've visited on the island. We took the opportunity to check it out with another couple when we were deciding where to go for dinner. It's located across the street to the Hotel Copacabana and next to the “Casa del Gelato” on Calle 1ra. It's a convenient place for my wife and I as it's close to home but for those of you who rent a place in Old Havana it's a bit of trip to get there. It has a spacious patio as well as an air-conditioned indoor dining area. The menu is presented in 4 languages; English, Italian, Spanish and French. Lots of tasty treats to choose from made it difficult to decide what to have....we will return.
The attention to service began from the moment we entered and continued right to the very end. The wine selection was impressive for Cuba and I choose an Italian white wine that I rarely find in a Canadian restaurant for a comparable price. There are lots of appetizers and Pastas on the menu, a few Risottos followed by 9 Fish dishes (excluding the special) and several Meats...it was hard making a choice. The appetizers we chose were the Vitello Tonnato, Eggplant Parmigiano and Lobster Carpaccio....a small Spinach Soup was offered to us while we waited. For the main courses we chose Spaghetti with Mussels, Fish Filet, Grilled Octopus and Tuna Steak. There wasn't one complaint among the four of us, everything was cooked bang on and tasted fresh. The only complaint I have is that I didn't bring my spare stomach....my wife saved some space for the spectacular homemade Volcano dessert.
All in all it's not one of the cheapest restaurants I've been to in Havana but I've been to more expensive ones....be prepared to spend a couple of bucks if you want to enjoy the full experience. This restaurant hasn't been open very long but already has a huge following, reservations are recommended. Like I said....."I'll be back".
