There are a lot of cigar shops both with and without lounges in Havana. The LCDH on the ground floor of the Hotel Melia Habana in Miramar is just one of many with a lounge. However, it is one of the better ones. What makes one cigar shop better than another is a personal thing. It may contain the house roller who's cigars you enjoy more than others, or it may have a good selection of brand name cigars, maybe it's how comfortable the chairs are or the selection of alcohol available.
The shop at the Melia Habana is a combination of many features that make it attractive to cigar smokers. Nice selection of Scotch, Cognac and other spirits that go well with cigars and a professional bartender to serve them. Nice big airy lounge with comfortable chairs to kick back and relax while you smoke your cigar. A decent selection of cigars and an excellent house roller. Being away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it's not usually very crowded. The service wasn't impressive. No one gave me the time of day. I don't know if it was like that before the "Cigar Aficionado" article but I got the impression they were a little stuck-up. No matter in my case, I was there for a couple of drinks and a place to smoke half a cigar. It fit the bill. You can travel through the humidors and look for your own box of cigars so you really didn't need anyone. If you're looking for the personal touch, I don't see it here. If you're looking for a nice spot to smoke a cigar, this could be a place for you. If you're ever in Miramar check it out, ground floor of the Hotel Melia Habana, Ave 3era,
