This is a pretty church sitting on 5th Avenue in Miramar, Havana. It doesn't really get much attention, I couldn't find any info about it on the internet. The church down the street gets all the spotlight, the Jesus de Miramar. It's much larger and boasts the largest pipe organ in Cuba. I was in the neighbourhood walking along the boulevard when I came upon the Santa Rita de Casia. It was actually my intent to visit but I was unlucky, it was closed. I wish I could tell you more but I took a few pictures of the outside with one of Santa Rita herself (her statue anyway). I hope to visit again and find someone there one day, see the inside and maybe get some info. I hope you enjoy the pictures for now.
ReplyDeleteThis is the church where La Damas de Blanco have visited on Sundays many years! some research may help you correct your blog --you need to visit on Sunday

Hello Rick, thanks for your comment. I know perfectly well who the ladies in white are and what they stand for and their relationship to this church. However, that would be touching on the 'Political' and this Blog doesn't talk about the politics of Cuba. When I said "It doesn't really get much attention" I meant that I couldn't find any history or information on the construction of this church....all it talks about are the 'ladies in white'.
