Within the walls of the Casa de Los Condes de San Esteban de Canongo in Plaza Vieja I found this cartoon artist on display. Knowing that this space contained an art gallery on the ground floor specializing in Belgian and Cuban cartoonists, I specifically came to see what was on display.
Alexander Mayet went to school at the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts "San Alejandro" where his interests began with landscapes. Today his art centers on characters, individuals, on subjects about everyday life, albeit in a rather comical or distorted manner. Personally I find his cartoon characters enjoyable to look at. I found some of his pieces on sale on ebay for $50 plus delivery this august.
