Restaurante Tabarish (Havana) A Russian Restaurant in Miramar

I have driven by this place so many times on my way to or from downtown Havana and always wondered what the heck it was all about. I was determined to check it out one day on my last visit and one mid-afternoon I did just that. On the pretense that it was scorching outside and we were desperate for a beer, we popped in for drink to check the place out. I understood that it was suppose to be some kind of Russian influenced establishment but if I hadn't, the Russian newspapers and posters plastered on the wall leading to entrance would have tipped me off. Inside is no different, the dimly lit dining room was decorated with all sorts of Russian paraphernalia from the famous Russian matryoshka dolls to the bathroom being totally wallpapered with old newspapers (see pictures below), they even had hukka. The menu is a nice concept, newspaper style on regular paper that I scanned below. There are quite a few items that I'm wanting to try so I'm definitely going to have to come back. The service was pleasant and prices are reasonable. Open 7 days a week from noon until 2am. Supposedly the vibe turns loungy later in the night when they begin to play the electronic music via a dj. Check it out and if you have a bite to eat there before me let me know what you think.
